Estos días he estado ordenando un poco mis libros, y he decidido desprenderme de algunos de ellos. Como sabéis, un libro muere si es abandonado en una estantería: el polvo que se acumula sobre ellos cuando nadie los lee es letal. Así que, si tienes un libro que con toda probabilidad no vas a volver a leer nunca más, ¿por qué no pasárselo a otra persona?
Éste es el concepto en que se basa el bookcrossing o intercambio de libros. El procedimiento es el siguiente:
- Regístrate como miembro de bookcrossing-spain.com (este paso sólo lo tendrás que hacer la primera vez, evidentemente).
- Registra el libro que te dispones a liberar. Se le asignará un código identificativo (BCID) único.
- Pon una nota en el libro, indicando que es un libro libre, que quiere ver mundo y ser leído por mucha gente. Pon también su BCID y la dirección web http://www.bookcrossing-spain.com/ . Otra opción es adherirle una etiqueta impresa.
- ¡Libéralo! Puedes dejarlo en un banco de un parque, en la mesa de una biblioteca pública, en un bar, una cabina telefónica… Según donde y cuando lo dejes, puede ser buena idea meterlo en una bolsa de plástico transparente, para que no se estropee si llueve, etc.
Si en cambio encuentras un libro viajero recuerda que no ha llegado a ti por casualidad, y que no debes dejarlo olvidado en algún rincón de tu casa. Lo que debes hacer (además de leerlo, claro está) es añadir una entrada en su diario, al que podrás acceder con su BCID, indicando que ha encontrado un nuevo anfitrión.
Cuando hayas acabado con él, vuélvelo a poner en libertad, añadiendo otra entrada en su diario. Así podrás seguir las aventuras y peripecias de los libros que liberes y encuentres, rastro que puede llegar a ser fascinante. También puedes optar por salir de caza, estando atento a los libros que se liberen por tu zona para ir a buscar alguno.
En muchas zonas también se hacen quedadas de beceros, y en Zaragoza tuvo lugar el primer encuentro nacional de bookcrossing durante los días 30 y 31 de octubre, y 1 de noviembre de 2004.
