Por esta nota de Florian Mueller, el gestor de NoSoftwarePatents.com, me entero de que la Comisión Europea ha decido no atender las peticiones de reiniciar el proceso legislativo con el que pretende legalizar las patentes de software.
El Parlamento Europeo había solicitado esta vuelta a empezar a tres niveles:
- el Comité de Asuntos Legales (JURI) del Parlamento la solicitó, casi por unanimidad, el pasado dos de febrero
- esta petición fue respaldada por la Conferencia de Presidentes del Parlamento el 17 de febrero
- y por último, el pleno del Parlamento invitó por unanimidad a la Comisión a revisar su propuesta de directiva el pasado día 24
Esta actitud de anteponer ciertos intereses al bien común de Europa constituye todo un insulto hacia el Parlamento y la democracia. Ministro Federal de Justicia alemán ha recibido más de 150 paquetes conteniendo casi 500 bananas, por su apoyo a esta directiva, recordándole que la UE no debería ser una república bananera.
La presión debe enfocarse ahora al Consejo Europeo, para que reabra las negociaciones sobre su postura común en el próximo encuentro del Consejo de Competividad el lunes 7 de marzo.
